Fave Fennekins

I am astonished at the amount of fanart people have already produced for Pokemon X and Y’s starters — this is just a flicker from the wildfire of Fennekin illustrations out there threatening to engulf the entire internet. Their artists in order of appearance:

One of these is not like the others (hint: it’s the most amazing one).

Holy crap, this DS game is amazing

Released in Japan a few years ago and inspired by a popular manga/anime, Kochira Katsushikaku Kameari Kouenmae Hashutsujo features all sorts of fun minigames like: dog breakdancing, Super Mario Bros. 3-style face matching, and some kind of crying/ballet dancing activity. I need to import this.

15 years later, Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers is finally coming to the states

Wow, that music! I totally missed this song from Atlus’ trailers for the Japanese version. I considered just posting the initial English screens and linking out the trailer, but that track is too good. The video doesn’t delve into the story, though, so here’s a summary:

Soul Hackers tells of a city held up as a beacon of humanity’s triumph of technology, but with an infernal secret. In this would-be utopia, a group of hackers takes on a centuries-old mystic society, and a battle for control over humanity’s fate is about to begin.”

Shin Megami Tensei fans have waited for this one to make it here since 1997, when it released in Japan for Sega Saturn. Atlus sought to localize a PlayStation edition of Soul Hackers back in the day, but Sony shot down that idea. This 3DS enhanced port of the first-person cyberpunk/occult RPG will release in the U.S. next spring.

Here’s one last Nester comic to close out Nintendo Power, which is shipping its last issue this month. Artist Bill Mudron killed it here (the comic, not the actual magazine).

I love that Nester framed and hung his mentor’s bowtie in his Nintendo room. Make sure to go out and buy the last issue for more nostalgia from the publication’s 24-year run.

Nintendo Direct’s Animal Crossing 3DS stream had a startling amount of awesome stuff this morning: camping grounds, Club 444, four islands you can visit, etc. You can read translated details on everything shown here.

The “stop all the presses” news, though, was DJ K.K., the club-rockin’ alter-ego of our favorite dog musician. He’ll perform on non-Saturday evenings — there will also be NES/Famicom nights, which sounds like the best thing.

A closer look at the NSMB 2 and Animal Crossing 3DS special edition XL systems coming to Japan, the latter of which looks like either a Louis Vuitton pattern or underwear, depending on who you ask. If you ask our readers, their heads will fill with pantsu.

There will be another Mini Nintendo Direct dedicated to Animal Crossing: Jump Out and broadcasting this Friday in Japan, 8 AM EST. You’ll be able to watch it here.
